2018 RESULTS

After a successful inaugural year in 2017, we are thrilled to announce the second edition of the European Young Player of the Year Award! Huge thanks to the ShowGame for helping us continue this award in 2018, and to showcase the amazing talent of young ultimate players across Europe.

This is an opportunity for YOU, European players under 24 years of age, to demonstrate your talent to the European ultimate community and the world beyond! Get teammates to film you, edit your highlight reel, and submit it to us for a chance to be crowned the European Young Player of the Year in 2018.

We have compiled an incredible judging panel to review all the entries and choose their top entries to become the next European Young Players of the Year! Two winners (1 female, 1 male) will be announced at the end of summer.

We can’t wait to what the young players of Europe are capable of!

Eligibility

We want all entrants to be on the same fair footing and so we have a small number of entry criteria. These are as follows:

  • Entrant must be not be 24 years old or older in 2018 (in line with similar age guidelines at WFDF events).
  • Entry must only include footage recorded between August 2017 and July 2018.
  • Only 1 entry (of each gender) from each institution/team.
  • Videos must not be more than 90 seconds long.
  • Entrant must not have any “Red Flags” on record at their National Federation that might suggest they do not hold SOTG and fair play in the highest regard.

Submissions

We have made some updates to the submission process for 2018.

First, entrants must submit their “intent to apply” via a brief form. This form will capture some basic information about the entrant. The video submission deadline will follow a few months later, and videos can be submitted to us via email. These videos may also be posted to social media by the entrant as soon as they are ready. NOTE: Videos should be no more than 90 seconds long.

This year, after we have received all the video submissions, we will be narrowing down the entries to a final “Top 10” (5 female, 5 male). These top 10 players will be asked to provide a short interview, either written or podcast/video, before our selection panel chooses the winners.

Throughout the process, we encourage entrants to publicise their films using social media and tagging their posts with #EYPOTY The ShowGame will be doing the same – we want lots of eyes on these submissions! However, please note that winners will be determined by the European Young Player of the Year panel, and not by a public vote or number of retweets, for example.
